Don’t Settle for Fine

Don’t Settle for Fine: The Commitments Keeping You Stuck

Feeling off-course doesn’t mean you’ve failed—it just means you’re in the in-between. And the in-between? It can be one of the most uncomfortable places to live. It’s not where you were, it’s not yet where you want to be—and if you’re not careful, it can trick you into believing you’re stuck there forever.

But here’s the truth: this middle place isn’t forever… unless you treat it like it is.

Let’s talk about how to survive it—and how to quietly, bravely, and consistently build what’s next. But whatever you do, don’t settle for fine.

This Isn’t Forever—Even When It Feels Like It Is

When you’re stuck in a job you hate, in a role that drains you, in a season that feels too heavy to carry, your brain wants to protect you. One of the ways it does this is by convincing you that this discomfort is permanent.

“This is it now. This is just how things are.”

But your current reality is not your entire story. Jobs change. Roles shift. Seasons turn. The version of you that’s exhausted today is not the version of you that will exist forever.

I’ll never forget when my friend Jeff shared how his daily medication, something he once thought he’d need forever, eventually became unnecessary once he changed the circumstances that were keeping him sick. It was a simple reminder: what feels permanent rarely is.

Remind yourself daily: This is just right now. It’s not the end of your dream.

Don’t Settle for FineStop Giving All Your Energy to the Wrong Thing

Life will always ask for your time. Obligations, bills, responsibilities—they’re non-negotiable. But just because something demands your time doesn’t mean it deserves all of your energy or your identity.

Even in the middle of survival, you can protect a small part of yourself for what lights you up. It doesn’t have to be hours a day. It can be ten minutes. Five minutes. One minute of remembering.

Ask yourself: What’s one thing I can do this week that belongs to the future I want?

Even better—what’s one thing I can do daily? It could be journaling. Reading. Sending that email. Practicing that new skill. Dreaming for five whole minutes before bed instead of scrolling.

Small shifts compound over time.

Your Way Out Starts With Perspective

When you believe this is forever, your brain shuts down your creativity and motivation. Why bother imagining more when you’re convinced more isn’t possible?

But when you remember this is just for now, something powerful happens: you open a door. You create mental space to dream, plan, and take small steps—even when you’re still stuck.

Progress doesn’t always look like quitting overnight or blowing up your life in a blaze of courage. Sometimes, it’s as simple as remembering who you are and giving that version of you just enough fuel to hold on. One tiny shift. One brave move. One new degree of direction.

Being stuck somewhere you don’t want to be doesn’t mean you have to give up on where you’re going.

This Is Temporary—Don’t Make It Permanent

Stop treating this moment like it’s your forever. It’s a season. A chapter. A setup for what’s next.

If you let it drain your energy, your hope, or your identity, that’s how it becomes permanent. That’s how people settle for fine.

But you don’t have to.

Hold space for your dream—even if it’s just five minutes a day. Five minutes that belong to the you who’s building what’s next.

That’s your lifeline. That’s your way out.

And that’s how you build the future you actually want—while surviving the one you didn’t choose.

So here’s your reminder:
Don’t settle for fine.
Don’t let the in-between steal your dream.
Start small.
Start now.
This isn’t forever—unless you let it be.
